EIDOLON: Become Your Best Self, First Edition

EIDOLON: Become Your Best Self is a Powered by the Apocalypse RPG inspired by anime like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and video games like the Persona series. In this game, your character gains the power of an Eidolon, a physical manifestation of their soul that reflects their truest, innermost self and grants them incredible reality-defying powers! With the help of their friends, they'll fight against the pressure of the Undertow, the shadowy flow of collective psychic energy that imprisons society in an untenable status quo.

Become Your Best Self

Eidolon's character creation system has been designed with maximum player freedom in mind. Every person is a unique individual, and the powers of their soul will be theirs and theirs alone. Our playbooks allow you to give your characters whatever powers you like, and then provide Moves to give those powers mechanical structure. Choose the Playbook that best suits the type of character you're making, and make it your own with a unique Eidolon Power! Create a traditional fighter type with The Vanguard, a back-line strategist with The Navigator, or an animal chasing its instinctive urges with The Beast! Or, if you can't decide, play as all classes at once with The Wildcard Playbook!

Drama-Driven Battle System

Instead of draining an enemy's HP, battles in EIDOLON are driven by what we call "Crashes." Every decisive blow you land on your enemies will cause the fight to escalate, tilting the the odds further and further against your party. As combat progresses, short-term victories become  increasingly more difficult to come by, and enemies become more deadly. The ratcheting tension eventually reaches a fever pitch, and emerging from the battle victorious will require a mix of creativity and teamwork to overcome enemy Eidolon masters and deadly Shades from the Undertow.

Actually, I Meant for You to Kick My Ass!

With the Reveal Your Master Plan Move, you can dramatically change the flow of a session by revealing a secret strategy that your character's been employing the entire time! Take a bullet? Reveal Your Master Plan to open your shirt and show off the body armor you've been wearing all along! Find yourself alone at the mercy of a powerful villain? Reveal Your Master Plan to declare that you called for back-up before the fight even started! Of course, like all PbtA moves, nothing's ever a guarantee, and you'll often find that your "master plan" has a few hitches you'll need to resolve before it comes to fruition!

Midnight

The Phantom Clock represents your party's overall morale and spirtiual balance, and the more they come into contact with the Undertow, the more the clock will progress toward midnight. When the clock strikes 12, one of the party's Eidolons will transform into a Phantom, a berserk monster inspired by that character's greatest fear! Without their Eidolon, they'll be severely weakened, and will have to rely on their friends to save them from being consumed by the darkenss in their own heart!
